Nicotinamide is a water-soluble vitamin refined into a white crystalline powder that is odorless (or nearly odorless), bitter in taste, and freely soluble in water, ethanol, and glycerin. Nicotinamide is easy to absorb orally and can be readily circulated in the body with excess metabolites (or prototype) being rapidly expelled in urine. As part of coenzyme I and coenzyme II, nicotinamide plays an important role in the integrity of hydrogen delivery throughout the biological oxidation respiratory chain; it can promote biological oxidation processes and tissue metabolism by helping to maintain normal tissue development (especially in skin tissue, digestive tract and nervous system). Additionally, nicotinamide has benefits associated with prevention and treatment of heart blockage, sinus node functioning and in conjunction with experimental fast-acting antiarrhythmic drugs. Nicotinamide can significantly improve the heart rate and reduce atrioventricular blockage caused by Verapamil.
