Vitamin B1 HCl (Thiamine Hydrochloride) is a white crystalline powder with a slight (but unusual) odor. Freely soluble in water, Vitamin B1 HCl is also soluble in glycerol (although less so in alcohol). It is used as a food additive, in animal feedstocks, and in pharmaceuticals. Vitamin B1 HCl helps to maintain sugar metabolization, to calm stress, and as a specific cure for various illnesses caused by lack of B1, including beriberi, edema, neuritis, neuralgia, dyspepsia, anorexia, inhibited growth, etc.
